Today I spent quite a lot of money, but I also got many things for the money. Or what do you say about a tailor made suit, three tailor made shirts, three t-shirts, ten underpants (all from Yashow Market), six pair of good-looking socks, three good quality shirts (all from Silk Market), and hiking/jogging shoes (only 200 yuan at a shopping center very near the hotel) for 2215 yuan (2650 SEK)? It might sound like a great deal of money, but in Sweden you would at least have to pay the double price! Ok, it is a market and the quality is a bit unsure - but the shirts and the underwear seems to be of fairly high quality and having a tailor-made suit in Sweden would probably cost A LOT more than here (850 yuan). Also the shoes seem really good!

Eva at work has found an alternative laundry place which is about half the price of the hotel. Someone from the laundry firm will come and collect our laundry Saturday morning and hand it back the next day. Still it is cheaper to buy new socks than to hand them in for laundry only one time...

I really miss the body pump classes back home in Sweden. Here I have to find some discipline to go to the gym. But yesterday evening I went to play badminton with Sean at work. It was pretty hot in the arena and they were all very good at badminton :)  So I got some good excercise and some blisters...

I feel rather proud over myself now - I went away to try to get something against our diarrhea and actually came home with something. It didn't taste very good - sweet wheat or something like that. Just hope it will have some effect now...

Or what do you say about having 5 pair of underpants, 6 pair of socks and 5 t-shirts laundered for 506 yuan? :oo  (and since you noticed that the number of underpants and socks doesn't match - No! I didn't have the same underwear two days in a row!)

A pretty heavy day today. Both Miro and I seem to have got a bit of diarrhea. Most likely from the meat we ordered yesterday at the Olympic Park. Hmmm.. I wonder how bad it would have been if we didn't get the drink against diarrhea before we left Sweden... So we'll see what will happen with the planned Hard Rock Cafe and cinema visits tonight.  :\

The following are some hints to Swedes coming to the New World Hotel in Beijing and will therefore be in Swedish.

En adapter som funkar finns på hotellrummet. Märkte också att man kan köpa adaptrar som funkar för det blyga priset 10 Yuan. I hotellets market finns en del smått och gott. T.ex har de Menthos, inhemska varianter för ca 3 yuan och en utländsk för ca 10 yuan. Köpte den kinesiska och den smakar minst lika bra :)  Det finns ofta utländska märken, men de är skyhögt dyrare än de kinesiska. Axeduschkräm kostar t.ex över 70 yuan - vilket jag tror är dyrare än i Sverige.

In the afternoon we went to the Pearl Market (Hongqiao Market), where they actually not only sold pearls and jewellery, but also electronic devices. I got hold of a tiny media player / storage (see image) for a decent price.

At 4 pm we went to se the "Rising Force - Art of War fighting championship", an MMA competition which my friend wanted to go to so I joined him. The fights took place in an Olympic venue close to the famous Bird's nest. The top match was between a Chinese guy and a Swedish one actually - and the Swede won! :)   Unfortunately, I have only video recorded from that game, and since I don't seem to be able to add any videos in this blogg I can't post it here.

We made a brave attempt to have lunch close to the Olympic arena. Everything was in Chinese and everything we could recognize was the sign for meat. But it was not much we got and it was not very tasty unfortunately. In the evening I ate bruschetta and pizza (Miro had pasta Carbonara) at Annie's not far from the hotel.

I was supposed to move to a one-room apartment the day before yesterday, but it has been problematic and now I get to have a two-room apartment for myself for the same price as for one until the beginning of August! Party anyone?  :)
